October:
October is a very busy month for us. There are lots of events going on in our county during this month and we try to participate in all of them.
One of our favorite annual events in October is the Refuge Day. We have a national wildlife refuge in our county where animals, including eagles and aligators, live protected and preserved. They have an annual day in October with fun activities for children and it's all free! The boys got to handle snakes . . .
baby aligators . . .
got their face painted . . .
I highly recommend this event if you have children. It's a great time and . . . it's free! There are lots of other activities that I haven't pictured including canoeing on the lake.
October also included Drug Awareness Week at the school. The children were encouraged to dress up each day to show support for a drug free school. The theme for the week was "Peace out to Drugs!"
McGruff the crime dog came to visit the classes:
The boys made posters for the Drug Awareness Contest. Alex won 1st place in his class for his poster, and Zach won 3rd place in his class for his poster.
In October, the school hosted a Pumpkin Patch Day for all the elementary classes. The boys had a great time! They enjoyed Hay Rides with their classes . . .
Riding the horses was Zach's favorite activity . . .
It was an excellent day!
Our school's Harvest Carnival is an annual event we attend in October.
The costume contest is one of our favorite events of the carnival.
Zach was a vampire . . .
Alex was a ninja . . .
Shane was a policeman . . .
There were some excellent costumes in the contest.
My boys didn't win, but I thought Zach looked wicked in his costume.
On Halloween night, the boys all decided to dress in different costumes to go trick or treating. Zach wanted to be Frankenstein . . .
Alex wanted to be Batman . . .
Shane wanted to be a Dragon at first . . .
but then he decided on Spiderman. This is the best picture I got of him that night. :/
So that ends the super busy month of October 2011. I was exhausted when the month was over, but it's one of the best months for . . .
the Ferrell boys and me!
