As far as last week's menu, the slow cooker cheesy quesadillas was a big success with the whole family.  It was really good.  It would also be very good as a filling for enchiladas or for chicken tacos.  The Mexican rice was also very good. All of the Ferrells enjoyed it including Shane.  He ate 2 helpings of the rice.  I alter the recipe a little for my younger children.  I didn't use Rotel tomatoes in my recipe but used petite diced tomatoes instead.  I also pureed the onions and tomatoes very fine so the boys couldn't tell it was in there.  :)

The pizza casserole also passed the likeability test with the Ferrell boys.  I made it without the pepperoni because I didn't have any (like I thought) so I don't know how that would have changed the dish.  My sweet friend, DeAnne, made the pizza casserole for her family and they liked it as well.  She froze 1/2 of it for a later date.  I didn't get to try it because I volunteered to help with a church activity, and sweet Dave left it sitting out all night!  But he said that he and the boys really liked it.

We are trying 2 new recipes this week.  I'll let y'all know how well they turn out.  Until then I will be seeing you in the grocery store . . . hopefully not with  . . .

Pee Wee Homecoming - 2012

Our school's second annual  Pee Wee Homecoming was this past Thursday.  Our Pee Wee cheerleaders held another spectacular pep rally for the boys.  I managed to get a picture of the girls before the pep rally!

Aren't they the cutest cheerleaders?!!

They did some great cheers, and they even made a pyramid.

More contests between the football players . . . this time with hula hoops.  Here's Matthew and Neal competing against each other.

The football players were really psyched about the game.

The cheerleaders gave the players some skittles and encouraged them to make the eagles "taste the rainbow".

Get up! Get up! Get up! Woooo!  K4! K4!

Third Grade!  Third Grade!

Alex is so cool . . .

At the pee wee football game, Alex helped get the water cooler to the sidelines for the football players.

Here come the football players . . .   Zach is the third one from the right . . .

And Zach on the sidelines . . . somewhat peeved at his dad for taking his picture . . .

Thank you Vicky for watching Shane . . .

And the pee wee homecoming court . . . and Elizabeth Vandevender is the Queen . . .

The pee wee Vikings WON the game . . . 12 to 6 . . .

Way to go Vikes!  Especially my favorite Viking . . . #12 - Zach Ferrell . . .

The boys played so well . . . it was great for them to win a game for a change.  Last year they didn't win a single game, so I was proud of how much they have improved since last year.

It was a great pee wee homecoming for all the elementary school and especially for  . . .

First Pee Wee Football Game!

This is the second year that Zach has played pee wee football.  Last year he played the safety position -- the last line of defense for the team.  :D

This year he is playing wide receiver . . . he's so excited about it.  He loves to catch the ball so this is a perfect position for him . . . but I'm not as excited about it because the boys that catch the ball are usually the boys that get tackled!  Ha!

The early afternoon of the big game . . . the Pee Wee cheerleaders had a fantastic pep rally for the boys.

The boys were soooo excited about the pep rally.  I took some pictures and you can really tell how fired up the players were about the upcoming game.  Sweet Zach is in the middle of the bunch.

The cheerleaders went all out for the pep rally.  They did some cute cheers and showed a lot of spirit.  They even had a skit that involved the players. . . . it involved two of the players racing on stick horses . . .  The player in front is Zach and the one in back is Neal . . .

Zach won the race and received a present from the cheerleaders.

There was more cheering . . .

The cheerleaders handed out candy (M&Ms) encouragements to each of the players and ended the pep rally with everyone fired up!

The boys won the Spirit stick --- To celebrate they got into a huddle and made a LOT of noise!

If Spirit could win the game . . . these boys were ready to win!

Alex didn't want to play football this year . . . so he acted as the team's water boy.

At the ballgame . . . versus Kemper . . .

During the game . . . Zach is #12 . . . the one walking in front . . .

Zach in action . . . The player to the left . . . #12 . . .

Unfortunately, the pee wee Vikings lost to Kemper . . .

The coaches giving the boys post-game encouragement . . .

They may have lost this game . . . but the players still acted and played like the true Vikings they are ! Good game boys!

Next game . . . September 20th . . . at Central . . . Pee Wee Homecoming!  Hope to see you there!  Consider this your invitation from . . .

Ferrell Farm Update . . . Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, I'm trying to get back into the habit of blogging again.

I was so busy this summer with the boys and trying new things on the farm . . . a garden, cows, chickens, etc., that I wasn't able to blog every week.

Now that school is back in session and I'm back in my office, I'm hoping to get back into the blogging routine.

Even though I wasn't actually blogging . . . I did take lots of pictures of the many projects I started (and haven't finished) with blogging about it in mind, so I will probably write about some of those.

This summer I stayed home with all 3 boys and didn't work in my office at all.  It was a rough summer!  :D

I couldn't be a stay at home mother.  The boys drove me crazy!  Ha!

My birthday was in July, and Dave gave me a wonderful present.  Here we are posing with it right after it was delivered by UPS:

As you can see by the mess, I love to sew.  I was busy making some nap rolls for Michelle's grandsons when the special present arrived.

Dave got me an embroidery/monogramming machine!  I was so excited!  But the person who was the most excited was  . . . Dave!    He couldn't wait for me to use it so I watched the c.d. that came with the machine and got busy.

Somebody was hovering around with the camera and it wasn't me this time!

I love it!  And sweet Dave helped me rearrange our bedroom so that I could set up both my machines on a long table in there and get the mess out of our dining room.

I've been sewing and embroidering up a storm!

Here are some pictures of Michelle's grandsons' nap rolls that I made them for their birthday. . . .

They are big hunters so I made them using a hunting theme.

That huge deer head was my first applique . . .  The boys loved the nap rolls, and I loved making them something they could actually use.  They started K4 this Fall and needed nap rolls.

Of course, I couldn't make the boys something and not make Taylor Grace something as well.

So I made her a purse . . .  out of a pair of Dave's old jeans . . .

She loved it!  The owl was my second applique!  I like doing appliques now.  :)

Here's the reverse side of the purse . . .

You can't see it too good, but I put her monograms on the pocket.  I love my new machine!

Well, I've got to go.  The Ferrell boys are on the floor in my bedroom in their sleeping bags . . . and they won't go to sleep until I put my laptop away . . . so goodnight my friends . . . until next time . . .
