An Old Fashioned Sunday

My church planned a special Sunday theme for the last Sunday of October. . . . an Old Fashioned Sunday.  Everyone dressed in old fashioned attire -- including the Ferrell boys and me.  :)

There were great old fashioned hymns to sing, as well as, special musical instruments to enhance the songs. . . . the banjo and the mandolin, along with our regular piano, organ, and guitar.

We heard a great rendition of "I Saw The Light" by some of the menfolk . . .

We had families from the country driving into town for church . . .

Young folks participating . . .

City folk coming to church . . . we told Mrs. Karen she looked like a banker's wife . . .

I thought the Ferrell boys and I fell into the city folk category . . .

After the service, we had "dinner on the grounds" together.  Traditionally that would be held outside under the shade trees, but we held it in our fellowship hall.

After our fellowship meal, we all went outside to enjoy some old fashioned fun.  There were several pie-eating contests . . .

Here's Alex after his try at the pie eating:

Sack races . . . Here is Zach rolling around in the grass just after he crossed the finished line . .  Can you say grass stains?

Someone brought horses for the children to ride.  There was also a tug of war event.  I especially loved the hayride through the neighborhood!  We got a lot of attention, that's for sure.

Zach and his suspenders . . . he wore them to school the next day!

My boys got off the hayride for a ride on something a little more modern.

Here's a sweet picture I took of my little friend Kaylee with her grandmother on the hayride.

Sometimes it felt just like we had stepped back in time . . .

And can I just say . . . it was so much fun!  Lots of good old fashioned Sunday fun for . . .

                               the Ferrell boys and me!

I'm linking up to these awesome parties!  Come visit the party!
